Glenda has been a journalist since 1986, shortly before Philippine strongman Ferdinand Marcos was toppled in a people power revolution. She was a reporter for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and The Manila Times, and a contributor to foreign newspapers and magazine. She was the news editor of The Manila Times from 1994 to 1999, when it was forced to close down due to pressures from the Estrada government.
She has written extensively on politics, security, and the media. Among the pamphlets and books that she has published are Spin & Sell: How Political Ads Shaped the 2004 Elections (with Ana Tabunda and Carmela Fonbuena, 2004), We Were Soldiers: Military Officers in the Civilian Bureaucracy (2002), Under the Crescent Moon: Rebellion in Mindanao (with Marites Dañguilan Vitug, 2000), and Boss: Five Cases of Local Politics (with the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, 1998).
Glenda finished journalism at the University of Santo Tomas and earned her masters in political sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She teaches investigative reporting and media and politics at the KAF Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.
