Lala covers current events in the banking, insurance, telecommunication, aviation, outsourcing, real estate, retail, and extractive industries. She also writes about boardroom squabbles, financial scams, and how businesses are engaging in environmental and social sustainability projects. Prior to journalism, she spent six years packaging loans, deposits, trade financing, and investment products for prime corporates in Manila. Post graduate studies include an MBA (strategy paper in process) and a fellowship course on Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Nottingham as part of the British Council's Chevening Program. She has been a three-time finalist in the Jaime V. Ongpin Journalism Award. In 2002, she won a 2002 Siemens IT and Telecommunications award for an article on the wireless business ventures of the telecom duopoly in the Philippines. She is also a resource speaker on credit and liability management, leadership, business and feature writing, the basics of the capital markets, scrutiny of financial statements, and corporate social responsibility.
